MOUNT VERNON - On the eve of the 2020 GOP Primary Election, Justice David Overstreet (R-Mt. Vernon) has released a long list of endorsements from a number of conservative advocacy groups, law enforcement, current and former Republican Congressmen, legislators, and county leaders in the race for 5th District Illinois Supreme Court Justice.
“After announcing my candidacy for Supreme Court in November 2019, I have been humbled and honored to receive substantial support from fine public servants that have given their time and effort to represent the interests of the people of Central and Southern Illinois and the Metro East with honor and integrity,” Overstreet said. “Endorsements from these influential conservative Republicans have helped my campaign grow stronger each day. "I believe the endorsements I have received in this Primary race are the result of the long record of conservative jurisprudence that I have built as 2nd Circuit Judge and as 5th District Appellate Court Justice," Overstreet said. As the next 5th District Supreme Court Justice, I will not legislate from the bench and will make judgments that are fair, impartial, and faithful to the law and the Constitutions of the United States and the State of Illinois."
Justice Overstreet was also rated Highly Recommended by the Illinois State Bar Association Evaluations Committee and rated Recommended in the Illinois State Bar Association Judicial Advisory Bar Poll. Overstreet is the only candidate to earn the Highly Recommended and Recommended ratings in the Republican Primary race for 5th District Supreme Court Justice.
