95th DISTRICT STATE REPRESENTATIVE AVERY BOURNE and FORMER STATE REPRESENTATIVE AND IDNR DIRECTOR WAYNE ROSENTHAL ENDORSE
JUSTICE DAVID OVERSTREET FOR SUPREME COURT
CHRISTIAN COUNTY IL…State Representative Avery Bourne (R-Morrisonville) and former State Representative and Illinois Department of Natural Resources Director Wayne Rosenthal (R-Morrisonville) have added their names to a growing list of influential conservative Republican leaders to endorse Justice David Overstreet in the GOP Primary race for 5th district Illinois Supreme Court Justice.
Bourne says she’s endorsing Overstreet as the best choice at the right time for a State wrapped by ongoing Federal investigations into systemic corruption. Bourne says Overstreet’s commitment to upholding the law gives him the best chance for a Republican to hold on to the seat being vacated by retiring Justice Lloyd Karmeier.
“The people of central Illinois deserve a fair, impartial, and conservative-minded Constitutionalist to replace Justice Karmeier,” Bourne said. “Justice Overstreet has an impeccable reputation and does not come from a political dynasty or powerful machine. The balance of the court is in play this election year, and in an era where activist judges are far too often legislating from the bench, Justice Overstreet stands out as a fair and impartial jurist. He’s the kind of conservative Republican we need to uphold law and order in this state. Justice Overstreet shares my conservative Republican viewpoint and will defend our rights guaranteed by the Constitution.”
Representative Bourne succeeded retired State Representative Wayne Rosenthal (R-Morrisonville) in the Illinois House when Rosenthal retired from the legislature to lead the Illinois Department of Natural Resources in 2015.
Rosenthal has deep roots in the agricultural community in central Illinois, served as a Brigadier General in the Illinois National Guard, and owns Wild Rural Park Hunting Preserve in rural Macoupin County where he hosts sporting and hunting enthusiasts year-round. Rosenthal says Overstreet’s candidacy gives the Republican party the best chance to elect a conservative, constitutionalist Supreme Court Justice and hold a seat that’s been in Republican hands since Karmeier’s victory in 2004.
“I’ve known Justice Overstreet for many years now, and I can tell you that he has built a strong conservative record and believes in core conservative principles,” Rosenthal said. “Justice Overstreet is honest as the day is long, and he shares the same values as a majority of law-abiding, conservative thinking people in Montgomery and Christian Counties especially,” Rosenthal said. “Justice Overstreet gives Republicans the best opportunity to hold a major seat in State government next election. Electing Justice Overstreet to the Supreme Court means sending a thoughtful, honest, fair, and impartial conservative that will make rulings that protect our Constitutional rights. I am proud to endorse him and urge everyone to vote for David Overstreet for 5th district Supreme Court Justice in the 2020 Primary and General Elections.”
Early voting begins this Thursday, February 6. Mail-in ballots can be requested by contacting your local election authority, in most cases the County Clerk. Illinois’ Republican Primary Election Day is March 17.
